OVERVIEW 

2007, QUARTER 1

Introduction to Transformation
– an overview of the transformation process
– typical challenges to transformation
– the nature of the change process

The Heart of the Transformational Pastor
- a review of the personal/emotional issues most likely to distract from transformational leadership
- developing “the heart of a lion and the skin of a rhino”

The Welcoming Congregation Award
- an introduction to Igniting Ministry
- an overview of the Welcoming Congregation Award and the qualification process for local churches

Hospitality and Guest Follow-Up
- hospitality training event
- reviewing the relevant sections of the Church Transformation

Survey Workbook
The Church Transformation Survey Workbook
- an overview of the Church Transformation Survey (CTS)
- exploring the material in the CTS Workbook

Brief on-site visits with each of the churches in the cluster (churches in the large membership church cluster which are not in the greater Houston area will be visited when the coach is in the district in which the church is located).

Expectation of churches:  attend the training events (one day with the coach plus other events sponsored by the conference), qualify for the Welcoming Congregation Award by the end of 2007, strengthen hospitality and guest follow-up, use the CTS and CTS Workbook to improve the overall performance of the church.


2007, QUARTER 3

Effective Strategies for Reaching Your Community
- an overview of advertising, marketing and publicity for the local church
- high, low and no cost methods of reaching the community
The What and Why of Evangelism and Faith-Sharing
- understanding the purpose of evangelism and how it can be done

The Head of the Transformational Pastor
- a review of some of the most important tactics and strategies for leading transformation in the local church
- gaining perspective on “doing the right thing at the right time”
A brief overview of the upcoming consultation process will be shared
- churches which are not yet ready to enter the consultation process (which may be most churches in most clusters) will understand more about the process which they will begin in the first quarter of 2008
- churches which are ready to enter the consultation process will understand what is expected of them and how to proceed

Transformation Talks
- an overview of the Transformation Talks series
- suggestions for using Transformation Talks in the local church

Most of the week, likely three or more days, will be spent doing one or more of the following: on-site visits with churches, meeting with groups/clusters of churches, one-on-one meetings with the coach.  The exact design will result from the customization available to each cluster of churches.

Expectations of churches:  attend the training events (one day with the coach plus other events sponsored by the conference), strengthen outreach and evangelism efforts, prepare to enter into the consultations process, use Transformation Talks to accelerate transformation, complete the CTS at the end of the year as a measure of progress towards transformation.


2008, QUARTER 1

A detailed overview of the Ministry Performance Review (MPR), the consultation tool from DNA Coaching
- the steps in the consultation process
- detailed instructions as to how to complete the MPR

An overview of Don’s book on Transformation
- ministry mapping and designing a ministry flow chart
- an overview of the checklists and other tools found in the book

Most of the week, likely three or more days, will be spent doing one or more of the following: on-site visits with churches, meeting with groups/clusters of churches, one-on-one meetings with the coach.  The exact design will result from the customization available to each cluster of churches.

Expectations of churches:  attend the training events (one day with the coach plus other events sponsored by the conference), complete the consultation tool (MPR) and return it to DNA Coaching by the middle of the year, implement additional steps towards transformation.


2008, QUARTER 3

A detailed overview of Congregational DNA Formation (move up the distribution time-line to the third quarter of 2008)
- an exploration of congregational DNA
- a look at values, beliefs, target audience, signature ministry, mission and vision

Implementation Issues
- Overcoming the most common challenges
- Taking what is “good” and making it “excellent”

Most of the week, likely three or more days, will be spent doing one or more of the following: on-site visits with churches, meeting with groups/clusters of churches, one-on-one meetings with the coach.  The exact design will result from the customization available to each cluster of churches.

Expectations of churches:  attend the training events (one day with the coach plus other events sponsored by the conference), take action upon the consultation report prepared by DNA Coaching (specifically, who will do what by when), consider the use of the Congregational DNA Formation tool in the transformation process in the local church, complete the CTS at the end of the year as a measure of progress towards transformation, re-qualify for the Welcoming Congregation Award.


2009, QUARTER 1

The presentations will be customized for each cluster.  This could include on-site visits with churches, meeting with groups or clusters of churches, one-on-one meetings with the coach, etc.  Appropriate DNA Coaching tools will be reviewed based on the needs of the churches.

Expectations of churches: attend the training events (one day with the coach plus other events sponsored by the conference), continue to implement transformation, address any remaining significant obstacles to transformation and overcome them.


2009, QUARTER 3

The presentations will be customized for each cluster.  This could include on-site visits with churches, meeting with groups or clusters of churches, one-on-one meetings with the coach, etc.  Appropriate DNA Coaching tools will be reviewed based on the needs of the churches.

Expectations of churches: attend the training events (one day with the coach plus other events sponsored by the conference), clarify steps to continue the journey towards transformation after the end of the formal three year transformation process, re-qualify for the Welcoming Congregation Award, complete the CTS at the end of the year as a measure of progress towards transformation.
