People in My Life: I met my husband David at Cy-Fair High School when I was a sophomore and he was a junior. We dated through college and were married at Cypress UMC in 1990. It was a true joy to return to Cypress UMC recently as we celebrated our 25th Anniversary this year. Our son Matt is a sophomore at Texas A&M majoring in civil engineering. He is in the Corps of Cadets and has already contracted with the Army. I can hardly remember a time when Matt didn’t want to be in the military and as a mother it makes me both proud and nervous.
Our tiny family is made complete by Star: Our precious lab of 15 ½ years.
Before Cypress UMC: For most of the past 15 years we have lived in Leesburg, VA just outside of DC. We loved the area and the people; however, we are so glad to be back to our roots. No better place than Texas or Cypress UMC.
Favorite Bible Verse: Anything in Philippians 4! I can always find a verse that speaks to my heart in any situation from: “Rejoice in the Lord always" to "if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” I frequently remind myself I have learned to "be content whatever the circumstances" and “Do not be anxious about anything.” Or the best one: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
What I Like: Reading! I started a book club in Virginia in 2001 and it is still going strong. We have now read over 150 books together and I cherish the friendships with those “literary ladies.”
Most recently, I was the Athletic Secretary/Front Office Secretary at a Virginia High School. When we lived in Texas, I was the bookkeeper at a local Re/Max office. I am so excited for the chance to work with the amazing staff and congregation at Cypress UMC. David and I feel blessed to be “back where we started” and are excited to be reunited with old friends and meet new ones!
